Secondary-school documents in English or with official English translations.
Passport or ID, CV and medical certificate according to Debrecen's application instructions.

Debrecen lists a USD 150 application fee and a USD 350 entrance-procedure fee. Applicants should confirm the current payment instructions in the official application system before submitting.

University of Debrecen entrance exam

Debrecen's medical entrance model combines written and oral evaluation. Biology is mandatory, while applicants choose Chemistry or Physics as the second science subject. This makes the exam model broad enough for Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmacy, but students still need to check the exact program page and invitation for their cycle.

Written exam

Biology + second science

The written part includes Biology and either Chemistry or Physics, with multiple-choice and applied question types.

Oral exam

Science interview

The oral part checks Biology and the selected second science subject through direct questions.

Possible outcomes

Admit, prep or reject

Debrecen may admit applicants to year one, recommend the Basic Medicine Course or reject the application.

The shared preparation challenge is Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English and clear oral explanations. Medimentor can help with that preparation, but does not guarantee admission; the final decision is made by the University of Debrecen.

Tuition, fees and living costs

Debrecen publishes these health-science tuition fees in USD. Official pages list Medicine at USD 16,900/year, Dentistry at USD 17,500/year and Pharmacy at USD 8,000/year. The tuition gap is large enough that students comparing health-science programs should treat program choice as a budget decision, not only an academic decision.

Debrecen's official cost-of-living page gives a rough estimate of around USD 800/month. Real budgets vary by accommodation choice, deposits, travel, insurance, textbooks and personal lifestyle.

Medicine

USD 16,900 per year, before living costs and one-time application or entrance fees.

Dentistry

USD 17,500 per year, making it the highest listed Debrecen program in this set.

Pharmacy

USD 8,000 per year, much lower than Medicine and Dentistry.

Recognition and licensing

Debrecen degrees are issued by a Hungarian public university. Recognition and licensing are still destination-specific: students should check the medical, dental or pharmacy licensing process in the country where they want to work after graduation, especially outside Hungary or outside the EU.

Check your target country

Licensing can require registration, language proof, exams or supervised practice depending on country and profession.

Student life in Debrecen

Debrecen is Hungary's second-largest city and has a more campus-centered feel than Budapest. It can suit students who want a larger university than Pécs or Szeged, but still prefer a quieter and usually easier-to-budget city than the capital.

Good for

Students who want a large campus, a broad international student community and a science-heavy entrance exam.

Watch out for

Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmacy have different budgets and career paths, even if the entrance-prep subjects overlap.
