Palacky University Olomouc is one of Czechia's main English-taught Medicine and Dentistry options outside Prague and Brno. The Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry offers a six-year General Medicine route and a five-year Dentistry route in English.
The useful student-facing angle is simple: Palacky combines a compact historic student city with a medical faculty and University Hospital campus where theoretical, preclinical and clinical teaching are close together. The admissions process is shared across Medicine and Dentistry, but the number of Dentistry places is much smaller.
Best fit
Students who want Czech EU medical education in a smaller city, with lower living-cost pressure than Prague and a hospital-campus teaching environment.
Watch out for
Dentistry is much more limited than Medicine. Palacky lists around 80 Medicine admissions per year, but only about 15-20 Dentistry admissions.
English-taught programmes at Palacky
Palacky is focused for our current student funnel: General Medicine and Dentistry. Both are full-time master's programmes taught in English through the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry.

Deadline rule
2 weeks before exam
Complete application, documents and fee must be submitted before the selected exam date.
Application fee
EUR 80
Non-refundable administrative fee payable online.
Non-EU timing
No later than May
The faculty advises non-EU applicants to choose an exam date no later than May because residence permits can take time.
Education documents
A-levels or equivalent
The faculty says applicants must successfully complete A-levels in three subjects, or an equivalent completed secondary school education route from a country where A-levels are not awarded. Applicants may apply before final completion.
English proof
Certificate or faculty test
Non-native English speakers need accepted English proof, such as Cambridge minimum FCE, IELTS 6, TOEFL 87 or PTE Academic 59, or must take the faculty English test unless their secondary or tertiary education was in English.
Palacky entrance exam
Palacky lists the same entrance-exam subject model for General Medicine and Dentistry: a test paper in Biology, Chemistry and Physics or Mathematics. The entrance exam can only be taken once per academic year.
Core science
Biology
One of the required entrance-exam subjects for both Medicine and Dentistry.
Core science
Chemistry
Required for both programmes and central to first-year medical sciences.
Choice block
Physics or Math
Applicants should confirm which option fits their background and chosen exam session.
Attempt limit
Once per year
The faculty says the entrance examination can only be taken once in each academic year.
The 2026 exam list includes online, Olomouc and partner-organised dates. Independent applicants are welcome to join online examination dates, so students do not necessarily need to travel to Olomouc for the first admissions step.
Tuition, housing and living costs
The current applicant page lists EUR 12,500 per year for General Medicine and EUR 14,000 per year for Dentistry. Tuition covers the study programme, not your full cost of living.
Palacky says university students, including overseas students, can stay in one of seven halls of residence and that housing is guaranteed for international students throughout their studies at the faculty. For planning, Olomouc usually sits below Prague and Brno, so a working monthly range is roughly EUR 550-750, depending on housing and lifestyle.
Tuition clarity
Medicine and Dentistry use different annual tuition, so do not quote one Palacky fee for both routes.
Housing advantage
Guaranteed university housing for international faculty students can reduce uncertainty during first-year planning.
Lower-cost city
Olomouc is a practical option for students who want Czech medical study without Prague-level monthly costs.
Recognition and academic fit
The faculty says both English-taught programmes conform to European Union standards. Medicine graduates receive MUDr., and Dentistry graduates receive MDDr.. As with every medical route, graduates still need to follow the licensing process in the country where they want to practise.
Student life in Olomouc
Olomouc is smaller than Prague or Brno, but it is not a remote campus town. The faculty describes nearly 400 students in the English programmes and around 1,500 Czech students in the Czech programme, which gives international students a meaningful medical-school community.
Hospital-campus setup
The faculty says theoretical and preclinical teaching is located on the University Hospital campus, with clinical disciplines in the University Hospital and no complicated commuting.
Compact student city
Olomouc is easier to navigate than Prague, with a historic centre and a student rhythm that suits students who want a quieter daily base.
How Medimentor helps
Palacky preparation needs a science plan that keeps Biology and Chemistry strong while making an early decision about Physics or Mathematics. Medimentor helps students practise core topics, build recall and prepare for the exam without treating Palacky like a generic Czech application.
