Masaryk University is one of the main Czech options for international health-science applicants outside Prague. The important detail is that the English routes sit across two different faculties: Medicine, Dentistry and the Foundation Programme are run by the Faculty of Medicine, while Pharmacy is run by the Faculty of Pharmacy.
That split matters for students. Medicine and Dentistry use written entrance tests in Chemistry, Biology and Physics. Pharmacy uses a separate Biology and Chemistry written exam. Foundation is a campus-based preparatory programme, not a degree.
Best fit
Students who want a strong Czech university city, a large international student environment and a programme choice beyond Medicine only.
Watch out for
Do not prepare every Masaryk route the same way. Medicine/Dentistry and Pharmacy have different official exam models, deadlines and application documents.
English-taught programmes at Masaryk University
For medical applicants, Masaryk is broader than a single Medicine page. Medimentor covers General Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy and the Faculty of Medicine Foundation Programme.
The Faculty of Medicine 2026/2027 information sheet lists e-applications for General Medicine and Dentistry from 2 January to 31 July 2026. It also says applicants may sit the entrance exam only once per admission year.
Medicine
2 Jan-31 Jul
Faculty of Medicine e-application period for General Medicine and Dentistry.
Pharmacy
31 May / 31 Jul
Non-EU and EU deadlines for the 2026/2027 Pharmacy intake.
Foundation
1 Apr-31 Aug
Online purchase/application window for the 20-week preparation course.
Capacity
40 foundation
The Foundation Programme page lists maximum capacity of 40 students.
Documents
Do not leave recognition late
Faculty of Medicine applicants attach transcript or final diploma in the e-application.
Pharmacy applicants upload CV, passport, secondary-school document and English certificate unless exempt.
Foreign secondary education recognition is required before enrolment.
Documents outside Czech, Slovak or English can require official translation.
Language
English plus Czech later
Medicine and Dentistry are taught in English, but the Faculty of Medicine information sheet says students must pass Czech language exams in the first four years for patient communication during clinical training.
Masaryk entrance exams
Medicine and Dentistry share the same subject structure in the 2026/2027 Faculty of Medicine information sheet: Chemistry, Biology and Physics. Pharmacy is separate and tests Biology and Chemistry.
Medicine/Dentistry
3 subjects
Chemistry, Biology and Physics written tests.
Med faculty format
40 x 3
40 MCQs per subject, 50 minutes per subject, one correct answer.
Pharmacy
40 + 40
Biology and Chemistry tests, 40 questions each, 40 minutes each.
Pass marks
60 / 65 / 50%
Medicine 60%, Dentistry 65%, Pharmacy 50%.
This is one of the easiest places for students to make a costly planning mistake. A student preparing for Medicine or Dentistry cannot ignore Physics, while a Pharmacy applicant should not waste time following the Medicine/Dentistry process as if it were identical.
Tuition, fees and living costs
The current official pages list three different tuition currencies across Masaryk routes: CZK 380,000/year for Medicine, CZK 400,000/year for Dentistry, EUR 7,500/year for Pharmacy and CZK 200,000 for the Foundation Programme.
The Faculty of Medicine information sheet points students to MUNI dormitories and lists shared dormitory accommodation from approximately EUR 200 per month. For realistic planning in Brno, use roughly EUR 650-900 per month before checking your housing choice.
Recognition and academic fit
Medicine and Dentistry graduates still need to follow licensing rules in the country where they want to practise. For Pharmacy, the Faculty of Pharmacy page explicitly states that the Master in Pharmacy degree is compliant with EU Directive 2005/36/ES and recognized in EU member countries.
Student life in Brno
Brno is smaller and usually easier to budget for than Prague, while still being a major Czech student city. For Medicine, Dentistry and Foundation students, the University Campus of the Faculty of Medicine gives a clear study base; Pharmacy students are attached to the separate Faculty of Pharmacy community.
Campus-based preparation
The Foundation Programme is held at the University Campus of the Faculty of Medicine, with 20 weeks of in-person teaching for future Medicine and Dentistry applicants.
Large student city
Brno gives students a bigger international community than smaller Czech cities without the full Prague cost profile.
How Medimentor helps
Masaryk preparation needs a route-specific plan. Medicine and Dentistry require Chemistry, Biology and Physics. Pharmacy is Biology and Chemistry. Medimentor helps students build the right science base, practise MCQ timing and avoid preparing for the wrong faculty process.
