English

Some universities use English diagnostic testing or require language proof depending on applicant background.

Tuition, fees and living costs

For 2025/2026, Sofia University's English tuition-fee table lists Medicine in English at EUR 8,000/year and Pharmacy in English at EUR 6,000/year for non-EU students. The specialized preparatory language course is listed at EUR 3,500.
For living costs in Sofia, use roughly EUR 650-950 / month as a planning range before flights, visa costs, deposits and one-time setup expenses.

Recognition and licensing

Bulgarian medical, dental, pharmacy and veterinary degrees are issued inside the EU higher-education system. Professional registration still depends on the country where the graduate wants to work, so applicants should check WDOMS, EAEVE or pharmacy/dental regulator requirements where relevant.

Student life in Sofia

City fit

Sofia gives students access to Bulgaria's largest city, broad transport links, more housing choice and the wider university environment of Sofia University. The tradeoff is a higher cost base than Pleven or Stara Zagora, and Medicine and Pharmacy students are connected to different faculties and locations.

Budget check

Compare tuition, rent, food, documents, flights and exam fees together. A lower tuition number does not always mean the cheapest total year.
