The Third Faculty of Medicine is one of the Prague medical faculties of Charles University. For international applicants, its main English-taught route is General Medicine, supported by a separate Premedical course for students who want structured science preparation before applying.
LF3 is best known for its integrated curriculum, early practical contact and preventive-medicine heritage. The official faculty page says teaching in English began in 1991/1992, the programme runs parallel to the Czech-language medical education, and clinical training is based mainly around the University Hospital Kralovske Vinohrady in Prague 10.
Best fit
Applicants who want Charles University Medicine in Prague with a smaller faculty feel, integrated modules, early patient contact and a curriculum that keeps prevention and public-health thinking visible.
Watch out for
LF3 is not just a written science test. Biology and Chemistry matter, but the interview, document timing, exemption rules and agency versus non-agency route can also change the applicant experience.
English-taught routes at the Third Faculty
LF3 should be read as a Medicine-first faculty page. The premedical course is useful for preparation and language/science orientation, but it is not a medical degree and does not replace the official Medicine admission process.
Online course application, medical report, documents and payment by the published deadline
Admissions overview
For 2026 entry, LF3 says applicants submit the online application, pay the CZK 940 admission fee and choose whether they apply through the faculty non-agency term or through a listed agency. The published online application and admission-fee deadline for the entrance-exam route is 15 April 2026.
Key 2026 dates
Application and admission-fee deadline: 15 April 2026.
Prague non-agency entrance exam: 29 May 2026.
Alternative Prague exam date: 2 July 2026.
Documents and recognition
Applicants normally send authenticated secondary-school documents, transcripts and passport details. LF3 also lists a separate CZK 990 foreign secondary-education recognition fee in the online application.
Admission without the entrance exam may be possible for selected applicants with strong A-level, IB, SAT/comparable results, German school-leaving results or a relevant recent bachelor's degree. The official rules limit this route by criteria, documentation deadline and capacity, so it should be checked before relying on it.
Third Faculty entrance exam
LF3's current Prague entrance-exam page describes a two-part procedure: an electronic written test in Biology and Chemistry, followed by an interview for applicants who meet the threshold set after written-test results.
Written test
60 questions
30 Biology and 30 Chemistry questions, each with one correct answer out of four.
Scoring
60 max
The written part is worth up to 60 points before the faculty selects applicants for interview.
Interview
10 minutes
The oral part includes a popular-scientific text and questions on judgement, motivation and communication.
Capacity
90 places
The entrance-exam page says an assumed 90 students will be admitted for 2026/2027.
This makes LF3 a strong match for students who can combine accurate Biology/Chemistry recall with clear spoken reasoning. Applicants should practise timed MCQs, but they should also prepare to explain scientific material calmly in English.
Tuition, fees and living costs
The official LF3 General Medicine page lists tuition at CZK 420,000 per academic year. It also says tuition is due by30 October. For the 2025/2026 Premedical course, the faculty lists tuition at CZK 110,000, payable by the published course deadline.
Prague is usually one of the more expensive Czech study cities. For planning, use roughly EUR 850-1,200 per month for accommodation, food, insurance, local transport, deposits and normal student costs, then adjust for whether you get dormitory or private housing.
Recognition and curriculum fit
LF3's official study-programme page describes a full medical degree with the Czech MUDr. qualification and notes that students must be able to use Czech by the end of the second year so they can communicate with patients and hospital staff during clinical training. Licensing after graduation still depends on the country where the graduate wants to work.
Student life in Prague 10
The faculty address is Ruská 87 in Prague 10, next to the Vinohrady hospital environment. That gives LF3 students a different feel from the more central Charles faculties: less old-town tourism outside the building, more day-to-day hospital-campus rhythm and easy access to the wider Prague student scene.
Vinohrady clinical base
The faculty says its clinical base consists mainly of the University Hospital Kralovske Vinohrady, with additional teaching bases across Prague hospitals and health institutes.
Premed decision
The premedical course can be a useful bridge for applicants who need more Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Czech and medical English structure before a full Medicine application.
How Medimentor helps
Medimentor helps LF3 applicants structure the preparation that actually matters: Biology and Chemistry question practice, English scientific reading, medical vocabulary, interview confidence and a clear application timeline for deadlines, documents and fees.
