The Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Kralove is Charles University's dedicated pharmacy faculty. It is a separate faculty from the Faculty of Medicine in Hradec Kralove, and it runs the English-taught Pharmacy route for international applicants who want a pharmacist-focused degree rather than Medicine or Dentistry.
The official pages list Pharmacy as a five-year Master course taught in English. The programme is built around pharmaceutical sciences, chemistry, biology, pharmacology, pharmaceutical technology and professional pharmacy practice, with recognition linked to EU pharmacist-education rules.

Best fit

Students who specifically want Pharmacy in English at Charles University, with a science-heavy entrance test and a lower-cost Hradec Kralove student-city setting.

Watch out for

This is not the Medicine/Dentistry entrance exam. Pharmacy has its own Chemistry, Biology, Botany and English grammar written-test structure, plus its own application deadline.

Online tests

3 SCIO dates

20 March, 13 May and 27 June 2026 are listed as online SCIO test dates.

Language

English

The programme is available in English and the entrance test includes English grammar.

Applicants need secondary-education documents accepted by the faculty, authenticated copies as required by country of origin and English or Czech court-translator translations. Visa-planning students should start early because document recognition and visa processing can take longer than the exam itself.

Pharmacy entrance exam

The written Pharmacy test is multiple choice with one correct answer per question. The official admissions page lists 50 Chemistry questions, 30 Biology questions, 20 Botany questions and 40 English grammar questions.
Chemistry

50 questions

The largest science block and the clearest priority for Pharmacy preparation.

Biology

30 questions

Core human and general biology knowledge remains important for the written test.

Botany

20 questions

A Pharmacy-specific area that is easy to miss if you prepare only like a medical applicant.

English

40 grammar Qs

English grammar answers are worth 0.5 points each; science answers are worth 1 point each.

The faculty states there are no minus points for wrong or unanswered questions. The admission threshold is set by the Dean with respect to applicant numbers and faculty capacity, so applicants should treat the published exam content as a preparation minimum, not a guaranteed score target.

IB waiver possibility

The faculty may waive the entrance exam for applicants with the required IB results: Biology plus one of Chemistry, Mathematics or Physics, and an overall IB score of at least 32 points.

Do not copy a Medicine plan

Pharmacy prep needs much more Chemistry and Botany attention than most medical-faculty exams. Students switching from a Medicine plan should adjust their question practice early.

Tuition, fees and living costs

The official Pharmacy page lists tuition for the five-year English course at EUR 7,900 per year. It also says this is a net tuition fee and does not include subsistence and living costs.
For living-cost planning, the faculty gives an estimate of about EUR 3,500 per year excluding tuition for moderate accommodation, inland travel, general living expenses and books. It also lists optional halls of residence at EUR 150 per bed per month and optional board at EUR 120 per month. Applicants should still leave a buffer for visa insurance, deposits, travel and personal spending.

Recognition and academic fit

The official study-program page says the Pharmacy programme complies with EU Directive 2005/36/EC on higher education of pharmacists. Professional registration still depends on the country where you want to work, so students should verify destination-country pharmacy licensing rules before committing.

Student life in Hradec Kralove

The faculty is based at Akademika Heyrovskeho 1203 in Hradec Kralove. The city is smaller and usually easier to budget than Prague, while still offering a real Charles University campus environment and access to student housing, transport, cultural events and sports.

Lower-cost Czech city

Hradec Kralove is typically more affordable than Prague, especially if students can use dormitory-style accommodation.

Pharmacy-focused environment

The faculty setting is specialised around pharmaceutical education and research rather than a broad all-medical campus.

How Medimentor helps

Medimentor helps Pharmacy applicants build the Chemistry and Biology base needed for the written test, then fill the Pharmacy-specific gap around Botany and exam-style English. For this faculty, the key is preparing for the actual Pharmacy pattern rather than reusing a Medicine-only study plan.
